Why Our Leather Feels Different

Not all leather is created equal — and at our atelier, we take pride in sourcing, selecting, and working with only the finest hides. The leather we use is a testament to both nature’s artistry and human craftsmanship, with each piece carefully chosen based on its intended use, durability, and finish.

Our approach starts with understanding your needs as a customer. Are you looking for a rugged bag that will age beautifully over decades of travel? Or a slim, elegant wallet with a sleek, refined finish? The leather’s purpose informs the choice of hide and treatment method.

We offer several premium leather types, each with its own characteristics:

  1. Full-Grain Leather This is the highest quality leather available. It retains the outermost layer of the hide, which is the strongest and most durable. Full-grain leather showcases the natural marks and texture of the animal’s skin, making each product truly unique. Over time, it develops a rich, beautiful patina that enhances its character. Ideal for travel bags, belts, and larger accessories.

  2. Top-Grain Leather A slightly more processed leather, top-grain has the outer layer sanded and refinished to achieve a smooth, uniform appearance. It maintains much of the durability of full-grain while offering a sleeker look. This makes it perfect for minimalist wallets, refined handbags, and accessories where a clean finish is preferred.

  3. Nubuck Leather Nubuck is full-grain leather that has been buffed on the grain side to create a velvety, suede-like texture. It is soft to the touch while maintaining excellent strength and durability. Nubuck exudes understated luxury and is best suited for items where touch and texture matter — think watch straps, cardholders, and accessories.

  4. Specialty Leathers We occasionally work with specialty leathers, including vegetable-tanned hides, exotic textures, and hand-dyed limited editions. These are perfect for bespoke, one-off projects and can be tailored to specific client requests.

Choosing the Right Leather for the Right Purpose

The choice of leather isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about matching the right material to the product’s function and the conditions in which it will be used.

  • Travel Gear: Requires durable, full-grain leather that can withstand knocks, scuffs, and weather.

  • Business Accessories: Benefit from sleek, top-grain finishes for a polished, professional appearance.

  • Everyday Items: Cardholders and wallets work well in either top-grain or nubuck, depending on your tactile preferences.

Why Our Leather Feels Better

Because we source our hides directly from traditional Moroccan tanneries and oversee the tanning and finishing process ourselves, we can guarantee quality at every stage. No chemical-heavy treatments. No synthetic finishes. Just rich, natural leather that ages gracefully and feels unmistakably premium.

You’ll notice it the first time you touch one of our products: the weight, the scent, the texture — it’s an experience mass-produced brands simply cannot replicate.

A Commitment to Ethical, Sustainable Craftsmanship

We are deeply aware of the environmental and ethical concerns within the leather industry. That’s why we partner with tanneries that practice sustainable, organic tanning methods and ensure fair labor conditions for their artisans.

Our leather comes from livestock hides repurposed from the food industry, reducing waste and supporting circular practices. And by keeping our production small-batch and artisan-led, we reduce overproduction and maintain a level of quality control that’s increasingly rare.

The Result?

Leather goods that aren’t just accessories, but lasting companions. Pieces that age gracefully, tell a story, and feel like nothing else you’ve owned.
